Stainless steel (inox) outdoor lighting, fencing, balustrades, masonry brackets and thresholds are electrolytically polished to prevent the surface from developing the typical brown rust spots following exposure to the outdoor environment.
Staircases and steps (checker plate or perforated) are also given an electropolishing treatment for the same reason.
In architecture, electropolishing of stainless steel has proven to be indispensable. It is also used to ensure that even the smallest traces of iron resulting from the construction process are removed, thereby minimising subsequent maintenance.
And virtually all manufacturers of street furniture and garden furniture use electropolishing as a final finish for their products to emphasise their high quality.
Studies show that sulphur from acid rain, in particular, is the main culprit in the corrosion of stainless steel. As a result, both AISI 304 and AISI 316 are easley stained, show brown discolouration or ‘tea stain’ formation in outdoor applications, both on the coast and inland.
Electropolishing can prevent this corrosion and often even repair it.
The beautiful shine achieved after electropolishing also adds aesthetic value.
Recommended treatments: anti-fingerprinting, electrolytic polishing and passivation.

To date, electrolytic polishing is virtually the only surface treatment that keeps stainless steel (inox) facades & walls rust-free in the long term. The subtle shiny gloss of the smooth surface, which prevents it from turning grey, immediately adds value.

Street furniture is subjected to heavy wear and tear and neglected in terms of maintenance, yet it can still look good after many years: with a soft sheen and no brown rust spots.

Anti-Graffiti
With the right finish and surface treatment, you can outsmart graffiti in no time.
Electropolishing, micro-texturing and amorphisation are treatments for stainless steel that prevent paint and graffiti from adhering.
Any graffiti that is applied can be easily removed or will flake off on its own after a short time.
The combination of concept, appearance and finish does not encourage to apply graffiti.
Street furniture, cladding, benches and handrails,… can all be treated with ease.
