Coasts & Marine environment
Untreated stainless steel (types 304 or 316L Ti) in a marine environment (up to +/- 20 km from the coast) is bound to take on a rusty-brown appearance, often within a surprisingly short time!
To date, electrolytical polishing and passivation remain the only surface treatment that makes stainless steel (preferably AISI 316L) sufficiently corrosion-resistant in a marine environment to retain a ‘forever new’ appearance. As an added bonus, it gives a sophisticated ‘look’ after treatment and requires minimal maintenance.
We can enhance standard ‘stainless steel’ alloys through electrolytic polishing. This purely electrochemical treatment dissolves impurities and iron, making the surface smoother (micro-deburred) and richer in chromium and nickel. This gives stainless steel its enduring elegant gloss and optimum corrosion resistance. This authentic appearance is timeless and does not fade under the influence of UV radiation.
Recommended treatments: micro-undulation, electrolytic polishing or anti-fingerprint treatment.
